What is Massage Therapy?

Assessment and treatment can include orthopaedic and neurological testing, soft tissue manipulation including Swedish massage techniques, hydrotherapy, remedial exercise and client education programs. Massage Therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body, general health and overall well-being. Massage Therapy may be used to maintain and improve physical health and can also ease the effects of physical pain.

Massage Therapists are registered healthcare providers. In Ontario, all practicing Massage Therapists must be registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.

What can an RMT help me with?

An RMT can help you understand the contributing factors of your physical dysfunction or pain, restore range of motion and help relieve acute or chronic pain so that you can return to work, sport or recreation more quickly. RMT treatments can also help relieve anxiety and promote relaxation. Part of the therapeutic process is developing a treatment plan that will speed up the recovery process and ensure better patient outcomes.

Our RMT is trained to treat postural imbalances, post-concussion syndrome, tendonitis, scoliosis, TMJ disorders and headaches among other conditions and dysfunctions.

An RMT can also help you with:

  • Individualized return to work, school, and/or sports programs
  • Improve function at work or in the classroom
  • Increase energy levels
  • Improve quality of sleep
  • Relaxation and stress reduction
  • Cognitive strategies
  • Concussion education
