Headache Program and Chronic Migraine Botox Injection Clinic

NCT’s headache program consists of comprehensive consultations, virtual rapid access clinics, and a Botox injection clinic.  Our multi-disciplinary team approach to headache management is led by our nurse practitioner and consists of neurologists, nurses, physician assistants, and allied health providers.

If you are a person suffering from severe or frequent headaches, contact your primary care provider for a referral to our headache program or for an assessment in our virtual rapid access clinic.  All consultations are 100% OHIP covered.

We specialize in complete care plans that include lifestyle counselling, allied health support, and expertise in all migraine treatment options including CGRP monoclonal antibodies (ex: Aimovig, Emgality, and Ajovy) and Botox.

Approximately 15% of the population suffer from migraines; however, they are widely under-diagnosed and under-treated.  There are several things that can be done to improve function and quality of life if you are living with headaches.

Please visit our patient resources section on headaches to learn more about how lifestyle factors impact headache health.

BOTOX Injection Clinic for Chronic Migraines

What is a Migraine?

A migraine is a type of headache that may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and/or sensitivity to sound.  Some migraine sufferers only experience 1 or 2 of these symptoms with their headaches.

A migraine will often get worse with minimal regular physical activity.

It is often described as throbbing or pulsating and is often moderate to severe in intensity.  Migraines can last from 4 hours to many days.

How Does Botox Work to treat chronic migraines?

Botox works by blocking certain chemicals made by the body that are involved in sending pain signals to the brain during a headache or migraine attack.

How is it administered?

Tiny amounts of Botox are injected into different areas of the head and neck that are involved in the development of migraines.  The treatment itself takes less than 15 minutes and is delivered in our office every 3 months.  You can go home as soon as your treatment is done.

You need at least 3 treatments to fully assess the effectiveness of Botox in treating your migraines or headaches. Most insurance companies cover the cost of Botox treatment for chronic migraines.

How do I know if Botox is right for me?

Ask your healthcare provider to complete a referral form to our clinic.  We will assess and diagnose your headaches and discuss all potential treatment options with you.
